Privacy Policy for Tuvy

Effective Date: 23 April 2026
Last Updated: 23 April 2026

Kia ora! Welcome to Tuvy.

Your privacy is important to us. We promise to keep your personal information safe and strictly follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

We believe in being completely open about how we handle your data. This short guide explains: what information we collect; how we use it; and your rights over your own data.

These rules apply to everyone using our platform—whether you are running a business here (a "Vendor") or booking an appointment (a "Client").

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to run our booking platform and provide you with a great experience.

If you are a Vendor (Business Owner):

  • Account Details: Your name, business name, email address, phone number, and password.
  • Business Profile: Your business address, operating hours, staff details, and service offerings.
  • Financial Information: Credit card details for your subscription payments (processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your full card number).
  • Client Data: Information you enter manually about your clients (e.g., when creating a manual booking).

If you are a Client (User):

  • Booking Details: Your name, email address, and phone number when you make a booking.
  • Guest Checkout: If you book as a guest without creating an account, we still collect your contact details to send you booking confirmations and to provide the Vendor with your information.
  • Social Login: If you sign up or log in using Facebook, we collect your name and email address from your Facebook profile, as permitted by your Facebook privacy settings.
  • Usage History: A record of your past and upcoming bookings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to make Tuvy work for you. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Facilitate Bookings: We share Client details with the specific Vendor you are booking with so they know who to expect and can contact you if needed.
  • Manage Accounts: To create your profile, verify your identity (via email or Facebook), and manage subscriptions.
  • Communication: To send automated emails/SMS regarding booking confirmations, reminders, cancellations, or password resets.
  • Improve Tuvy: To analyze how people use our app so we can make it better (e.g., fixing bugs or improving layout).
  • Safety & Security: To detect and prevent fraud or unauthorized access to our platform.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers. However, we do share data in the following specific scenarios:

Between Vendor and Client

  • When a Client books a service: We share the Client's name, phone number, and email with the Vendor so they can provide the service.
  • Vendor Responsibility: While Tuvy protects your data within the app, we are not responsible for how a Vendor handles your data outside of our platform (e.g., if they write your number in a physical diary).

With Service Providers (Third Parties)

We use trusted third-party services to help us run Tuvy. These providers may process your data on our behalf, but only for the purposes listed above:

  • Payment Processors: (e.g., Stripe) To process secure payments.
  • Cloud Hosting: (e.g., AWS or Google Cloud) To store our database securely.
  • Video Platforms: (e.g., YouTube or Vimeo) If a Vendor shares a video resource, it is hosted on these platforms. By watching a video, you are subject to their Privacy Policies.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by New Zealand law, or if requested by a government agency (like the Police) where the Privacy Act permits such disclosure.

4. International Data Transfers

Tuvy is a New Zealand business, but like most modern apps, we use cloud technology (like Amazon Web Services) that may store data on servers located outside of New Zealand (e.g., in Australia or the USA).

We ensure that these providers are reputable and subject to privacy laws or contractual obligations that provide a level of protection comparable to the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

5. Storing and Securing Your Information

  • Security: We use industry-standard security measures (encryption and SSL) to protect your data from loss, unauthorized access, or misuse.
  • Passwords: Your passwords are encrypted (hashed). We cannot see your password.
  • Retention: We keep your personal information only for as long as you have an account with us or as long as required by law (e.g., for tax records).

6. Cookies

We use "cookies" (small text files stored on your device) to recognize you when you sign in and to keep you logged in as you navigate the site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but Tuvy will not function correctly (you won't be able to log in or book).

7. Your Rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act, you have the following rights:

  • Access: You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you. (Most of this is visible directly in your Tuvy profile).
  • Correction: If your information is wrong, you can ask us to fix it, or you can update it yourself in your profile settings.
  • Deletion: You can request that we delete your account. However, we may need to retain certain transaction records for legal/tax purposes.

To exercise these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer at: support@tuvy.nz.

8. Note on Third-Party Content (Resources)

Vendors may share links to external resources (like YouTube videos or Google Docs) via our Client Resource Portal. Tuvy does not own or control these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party links you access.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app or the law. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Significant changes will be notified to you via email or a notification within the app.
